W.A.S.P. IN W.E.B.

D.M: This was a killer of a song to record. Paul sent me the drum tracks and some lyrics and I had to write some music to match and fit. Not easy with 41 different tempo changes. But the challenge was well and truly met and is possibly my favourite Anglo-Saxon related song of all time.

P.H: Talking of an overdose of overdubs, what in jumping Jupiter’s going on here? We’ve gone completely bongo hatstand. At one stage we had something like 40 tracks of twanging, banging and haranguing.
This song is a tribute of sorts to Joni Mitchell. If you’re familiar with her 1976 track ‘Coyote’ you will realise that this is a kind of companion/response to that song’s story. Of course, her recording had nothing more than an acoustic guitar, a bass and a pair of bongos to support her vocal. We’ve got the entire contents of a musical instrument shop strumming and drumming away here.
Putting this song together drove us nearly insane. We lost focus to it so we slung it all to Si Beex to make it into something presentable - which he did and wrapped it all up in a big fancy ribbon.
