16-song collection of 4-track recordings by mid-1980s-era Portsmouth pulsating combo Horrible Head ("Better than Dead Morrison!"). Housed in a suitably-tatty slip card cover, Stephanie Johnson's on-disc design (when you consider it) is really brilliant. (Cat. No. BITE6.)

about

Horrible Head comprised four art school layabouts who, from the end of 1985 and throughout most of 1986, played in pubs, clubs, colleges and parties. They were yer archetypal small-town big-time dreamers.
These songs were all captured on a dodgy 4-track machine - none of your Pro-Tools malarkey here, dear. They played as though their lives depended on it - and, back then, it did.

ALTERATION!
The original CD release segued Track 6 ('They Don't Need Me') and Track 7 ('Another Lonely Place'), which kinda sorta works in a way - if you like that sort of thing - when you're playing the compact disc format. However, if you are playing a mix of assorted things and 'They Don't Need Me' crops up on your playlist, it's going to sound pretty crap with the opening guitar figure to 'Another Lonely Place' twanging away on the fade-out and then stopping abruptly.
So, in July 2020, I have found the original audio files and replaced the segued versions with the 'pure' ones.
If you feel cheated - and you SHOULD! - contact me at smokingantrecords@gmail.com and I shall send you the WAV files of the two songs.
